Adult Psychiatric Expertise from Camber

Camber Mental Health - Adult Mental Health and Adult Psychiatric Treatment Expertise - Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Care

For more than 30 years, Camber Children’s Mental Health has provided compassionate treatment and resources for over 3,800 youth admitted to our programs each year.

While children’s mental health is Camber’s core competency, the organization also has significant expertise in designing and providing adult mental health treatment:

  • Adult Psychiatric Hospital with KU – For three years, Camber (previously named KVC Hospitals) partnered with the University of Kansas Health System to operate adult psychiatric hospital beds in Kansas City, KS. Camber managed the adult psychiatric services and provided ancillary services. Camber was selected in part because it has been a teaching site for the Psychiatry department at KU Med for more than ten years. Learn more here.
  • Emergency Department Support – With an increasing demand for high-quality and effective inpatient psychiatric care for adults, Camber works with primary health systems to serve this population through a proven, trauma-informed, neuroscience-driven program. Camber can ensure around-the-clock psychiatric services for emergency departments (EDs) by providing on-site assessment services and referrals to adult psychiatric beds. We initiated and structured such an arrangement for a large health system in Johnson County, KS which is now experiencing better patient flow through its ED.
  • Community Education – KVC Health Systems and Legacy Brokers hosted the first annual Mental Wellness Expo in 2022. It was the first event of its kind in the region bringing together insurance carriers, mental wellness providers, employers and families. NBC Affiliate KSHB TV covered the event hosted in Olathe and live-streamed online. Camber and its parent organization, KVC Health Systems, work to help both children and adults achieve mental wellness. Learn more here.

Note: We do not currently provide adult mental health services at our Camber Children’s Mental Health treatment centers.
