Become a Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in supporting the children we serve. Volunteers are critical in helping us achieve our mission!
Members of the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department are frequent volunteers at our Holiday dinners. They spend their time connecting with the youth receiving treatment from us while serving up some tasty food!
If you’re looking for opportunities for you, your family, friends or corporation, we have a wide range of volunteer activities you can participate in. We try to make our volunteer’s experiences impactful and meaningful by spending time with each volunteer to identify how their strengths and talents can be focused on projects they’re interested in doing.
KVC Hospitals is taking many precautions to protect our clients and employees from COVID-19. Click here to learn about the preventative measures we have implemented. We have also temporarily restricted volunteer opportunities across our facilities. Please contact the location near you to find out about current volunteer opportunities.
Examples of volunteer opportunities include:
This may include sorting and organizing donations, hanging up or folding clothes, or taking inventory of what we’re in need of. This opportunity is available at all locations—Kansas City, Wichita and Hays.
Birthdays and Holiday Parties:
Children reside in our treatment centers while receiving services—often overlapping with Birthdays and Holidays. Some of the ways we make these days special for them include Birthday surprises; Halloween Trunk-or-Treats; providing a delicious Thanksgiving dinner for clients and their families; and celebrating Christmas with Santa, treats and fun crafts. We’re looking for people to help coordinate these fun events and/or donate treats, gifts or craft supplies. This opportunity is available at all locations—Kansas City, Wichita and Hays.
We plan a range of activities to provide the youth in our care with educational and fun experiences. We look for volunteers to help host onsite activities like arts and crafts, cooking class, field days and more. We also partner with organizations that host a group of youth and our staff for exciting offsite learning experiences—some activities we’ve done in the past include a day out at Science City, the Zoo, the Sprint Center Basketball Experience, bowling, and more. This opportunity is available at all locations—Kansas City, Wichita and Hays.
School Tutors and Support:
Children receiving services in our residential treatment programs reside with us longer-term and attend school in our facilities to continue receiving school credits. Whether you’re tutoring kids in math or reading a book to younger clients, this is a great opportunity to volunteer directly with youth. This opportunity is available in Kansas City and Hays.
If your strengths include communication and planning, consider providing assistance coordinating various volunteer activities or events, which can be a regular occurring collaboration or a one-time event. This opportunity is available based on needs at each location.
If you’re interested in a volunteer activity you don’t see in this list, contact us! These are just some examples of volunteer opportunities—and we’re always looking for more creative ideas for engaging with our communities!
