Camber Mental Health

Amy LaPietra, LMSW

Amy LaPietra brings more than 25 years of behavioral health experience to her role as Director of Contracts at Camber Mental Health. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Kansas, where she completed the clinical track. Although clinically trained, Amy has always focused on operations—driven by the belief that effective leadership starts with truly understanding the roles and challenges of the people you support.

At Camber, Amy leads payor and vendor contract negotiations to ensure our clients receive high-quality, cost-effective services. Her work directly supports access to compassionate care for youth, adults and families across Kansas and Missouri.

Throughout her career, Amy has held a wide range of roles on both the facility and managed care sides. Her experience includes serving as a floor social worker and clinician, utilization review case manager, program developer, access supervisor and hospital launch team member. She has also led trainings and workshops across the behavioral health field. In managed care, Amy advanced to Regional Clinical Director, overseeing 45 staff and supporting more than 750,000 members throughout the Midwest. She has successfully guided organizations through rigorous audits including TJC, CMS, NCQA and URAC.

While pursuing her MSW, Amy was awarded the Margo Shutz Gordon Award for Exceptional Performance in Field Practicum Work. Her research on the needs of children in the child welfare system informed recommendations shared with agencies, law enforcement and local government in Johnson County.

Amy’s passion for advocacy was ignited in her first role after college, working as a counselor at an alternative high school for at-risk youth in Kansas City.

That experience showed me how resilient and resourceful young people are, even in the face of huge obstacles. It also opened my eyes to the importance of using my privilege to advocate for those who are most vulnerable.” — Amy LaPietra
