Candy Strauss, RN, BSN
Candy serves as the Director of Nursing at Camber Kansas City, bringing 33 years of clinical expertise and 14 years of dedicated leadership to the team. In her role, Candy acts as a vital voice for the nursing department and a liaison to the Camber’s leadership team. She is responsible for the full lifecycle of clinical processes from implementation and evaluation to long-term maintenance while actively modeling high-quality, age-specific, and developmentally appropriate support for youth in our care.
Candy’s educational foundation began at Kansas City Community College, where she earned her LPN, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Webster University. She pursued graduate nursing expertise through MSN coursework at Rockhurst University, remaining committed to the evolution of nursing practice throughout her career.
Before joining the leadership team at Camber, Candy built a diverse professional background across several specialized service lines, including oncology, orthopedics, private duty, and acute medical hospital care. Her commitment to excellence has been recognized by her peers and patients alike; she is a two-time recipient of the DAISY Award and was honored with the Hope Award in 2025. Her past affiliations include the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses, and she previously held Oncology Certified Nurse and Orthopedic Nurse Certified credentials.
Candy is driven by a deep-seated belief in the power of human connection and the vital role nurses play in the healing process.
“I have a genuine love for nursing, and I strive to treat my patients as if they were my own family. Nurses truly make a difference, and that is what motivates me to show up every day for our team and the families we support.” – Candy Strauss
