Dr. Brett Ellis
Working from KVC Missouri’s Children’s Mental Wellness Campus in Webster Groves, Dr. Brett Ellis will support both Camber Mental Health and KVC Missouri. In this role, as a key member of the executive leadership team, he will be responsible for advancing community relationships, strengthening organizational leadership capacity, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. He will lead efforts to enhance Camber and KVC’s visibility by cultivating partnerships that align with organizational mission and goals, and drive internal leadership development initiatives that build a culture of excellence, belonging, and innovation.
Dr. Ellis holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Illinois University, a master’s degree in leadership and adolescent development from Huntington University, and a doctorate in education (transformational leadership focus) from Concordia University. His doctoral dissertation can be found on ProQuest worldwide and focuses on behavioral health and suicide in relation to traumatic events.
Additionally, Dr. Ellis teaches at the National Fire Academy and Columbia Southern University, and is an author for Firehouse Magazine, contributing to their leadership segment. He also serves as the Board Chair for ASPEN Network Inc. and speaks around the country as a presenter and keynote on various topics that challenge leaders to lead.
With 29 years dedicated to the fire service – most recently serving as Fire Chief for the City of Webster Groves – Dr. Ellis has been a passionate advocate for mental health, resilience, and wellbeing, particularly within high-stress, high-impact professions. His career reflects a deep commitment to advancing meaningful leadership conversations, strengthening behavioral health supports, and developing leaders at every level of an organization.
Dr. Ellis brings extensive expertise in leadership development, organizational strategy, and long-range planning, with a strong track record of helping organizations align people, purpose, and performance. His ability to integrate strategic thinking with authentic, human-centered leadership will be instrumental as Camber Mental Health and KVC Missouri expand innovative mental health services and deepen community partnerships.
