Understanding Care Options
When a child is struggling with their mental health, it can be hard to know what kind of help they need or what step to take first. Whether you are noticing changes in behavior, intense emotions, or challenges that are becoming harder to manage at home, support is available.
Not every child needs the same level of care. Some may benefit from outpatient support in the community, while others may need a higher level of care through inpatient or residential treatment.
Our resources can help you understand:
- The difference between inpatient and residential treatment
- How to take the next step in getting help
- What to expect from admission to discharge and the transition home

What to Expect During Treatment
Starting treatment can come with a lot of questions. You may be wondering what your child’s day will look like, how you stay involved, and what progress looks like.
At Camber, children and teens receive compassionate, evidence-based care in a structured setting designed to support safety, healing and progress. Families and caregivers are an important part of that process, and you will stay connected throughout your child’s care.
Take a closer look at the admissions process and explore what to expect when your child begins care.

Supporting Your Child at Home
Your role matters more than anything. From the beginning, we work with families, clinicians and community partners to prepare for the transition out of care and help build a plan for what comes next.
Healing does not end at discharge. Ongoing support, follow-up care and a thoughtful plan at home can make a meaningful difference in a child’s continued progress.
We provide guidance to help you feel prepared for:
- Discharge and the transition home
- Follow-up care and community-based support
- Routines and tools that support continued progress
