Electronic Health Records Connect You and Your Doctors
All major healthcare organizations including KVC Hospitals are moving from paper records to electronic health records (EHR), but what’s in it for patients and communities as a whole? A new infographic from HealthIT.gov (see below) spells out the many ways that electronic health records improve your care and save you time.
Here at KVC, we are currently working to digitize all our health records for the children and adolescents we treat at KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. and KVC Wheatland Hospital in Hays, Kan.
In the next few months, our patients and their families will receive a log-in through MyHealthPointe. Our new system is also connected with the Kansas Health Information Network (KHIN) statewide database. What does this mean for you?
- You’ll be able to instantly and conveniently access your child’s health and medical records.
- You’ll be able to receive prescriptions faster as we will be directly connected with pharmacies.
- If your child goes to another facility, his/her next healthcare provider may be able to access the child’s health records from KVC Hospitals.
- Plus, a future enhancement will allow our patients receiving outpatient treatment to schedule appointments and review diagnosis and medication information.
