KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital Honors KVC’s Anne Roberts’ Legacy

Anne Roberts

Anne Roberts, M.S., Chief of Staff

Last month, KVC Health Systems President/CEO Jason Hooper dedicated the KVC Education Center inside KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas to current Chief of Staff Anne Roberts, M.S. Children and adolescents receiving behavioral healthcare and psychiatric treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts and feelings of violence benefit from the KVC Education Center each day.

Anne has been an advocate of KVC since starting with the organization in 1982. She was previously an educator, having worked in the special education field prior to joining KVC. Since her start, she has held the role of Chief Operations Officer until December 2015, when she transitioned to Chief of Staff to support a new leadership team. She was an instrumental force in developing the programs and services offered by KVC, overseeing the strategic planning and organizational growth that helped KVC become what it is today.

“Many things have changed since the start of KVC, but two things have pretty much stayed consistent and haven’t changed; this hallway has always been the school, and the impact Anne has had on KVC,” said KVC CEO Jason Hooper. “She’s always led with quality, and she’s always led with mission and cause. It’s meaningful that we are able to honor your service to KVC in this hallway and to frame up the impact that you’ve had. Thank you for your service.”

The dedication also included a wall plaque that states, “KVC Education Center – Dedicated to Anne Roberts who led KVC for more than 35 years as Chief Operations Officer. Her love of teaching children with special needs and her commitment to quality helped KVC create one of the nation’s broadest continuums of care for children and families.”

The KVC Education Center houses the KVC Academy and the Learning Lab on site at KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital. The KVC Academy is an accredited educational center for children grades K-12 that allows children in care at KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital to learn at their own pace and reach their learning potential. It offers the children a classroom setting to meet their educational goals and allows them to continue their school work without interruption, which helps smooth the transition back to the student’s home school after leaving KVC Prairie Ridge. The Learning Lab is an innovative environment that lets children and teens in care learn about brain development, resilience and building their capacity to handle life challenges in fun ways with games, activities and technology.

“Anne was one of the first administrators here at KVC Prairie Ridge Hospital and along the way, she brought in ‘Attack the problem, not the person,’ which is a value we use every day,” said B. Wayne Sims, former CEO of KVC Health Systems. “She always kept us focused on doing the right thing and she is well-deserving of recognition.”

Thank you, Anne Roberts, for 35 years of achieving excellence and helping thousands of children and families!
