Recent Discharge Sheds Light on Children’s Growth, Progress

Recent discharge sheds light on children's growth, progress

Skylar had been in the foster care system since she was about two years old. When she began her journey at Niles, she wasn’t too keen on building relationships and she would not do anything without being directed, including bathe and get ready for school.

Due to her naturally shy personality and history in the foster care system, communicating with others was a challenge for Skylar. With Niles’ therapeutic services and support and encouragement from staff, she grew to a point where she was able to open up more to communicating and building relationships. Skylar connected with her paternal grandmother – although they have never physically met, they were able to communicate on the phone and write letters. Skylar recently transitioned into a loving foster family and staff say her journey is a complete 360 from where she began at Niles.
